Pioneer Day Pageant and Pigtails

Here in Utah, to commemorate the Mormon Pioneers crossing the plains and settling in the Salt Lake Valley, we celebrate Pioneer Day every year on the 24th of July. This year in Grantsville they put together a BIG 24th of July Pageant that Joseph got to participate in. He played the part of Willard Richards (an early pioneer and church leader) and also played his violin for a few of the numbers. It was such a fun performance. Fanny and I really enjoyed it and enjoyed watching Joseph be a part of it. I'm hoping that next year I'll have more time to participate. Sorry the pictures are blurry. It was dusk and I had my camera on "night portrait" instead of "night landscape" so the pictures didn't turn out very good.

Oh, and just because the following pictures turned out SOOO cute, I had to share them with all of you on this post. I'm not the greatest hairdresser, but Fanny's hair is getting longer, so I'm trying to do more things with it. Didn't these pigtails turn out so cute?! One is longer than the other, but I think they are adorable. The biggest trick was getting her to sit still long enough for me to get them in. She HATES when I try to put things in her hair. I think the end result is always worth the little bit of fussing, though.

Too cute! I love pigtails on little girls and babies. Adorable!

And aren't you amazed by the work-out you get just to do their hair?! Holy cow!
