My oldest turned NINE!!! I love my Fanny lady so much!! She is such an awesome girl. I never cease to be amazed at her goodness and desire to make the right choices in her life. She inspires me in so many ways to be a better person. She is quick to say sorry and quick to forgive. She is not an overly cuddly, lovey person, but she tries to be kind and shows her love in the way she obeys and serves others. I sneak in lots of hugs and kisses when I can, though ;).
Everyone that knows Fanny knows how much she loves reading. She can be found reading a book at all hours of the day, and even in the night :). Because she is such an auditory learner, she likes to read out loud so she can hear herself. I love hearing her read and can always find where she is by following her voice ;). She is drawn to words like a moth to a flame. If there is something near her that has words on it, she HAS to read it! We still struggle with getting her to do things, like coming to the table for dinner, if she is reading a book. The desire to be obedient usually takes a back seat to finishing what she is reading :)
Fanny with her cake. She wanted a Native American themed cake. We studied a lot about different tribes this past year during one of our homeschool units and she really enjoyed it. I sure love getting her to smile or laugh for pictures. Her personality, or at least the Fanny we see at home, comes out a bit more when she smiles. We didn't do a big party this year and just had some family come over to celebrate with us. It was a lot easier on me this way :). We had a great time, though, and Fanny loved her cake and gifts.
The "fake" smile I usually get when I take her picture :). Fanny, unlike her sister, Nora, is not a big fan of having her picture taken.
The cake and cupcakes:
"Mmm, when do we get to eat it?"
This girl LOVES to bake! Her siblings enjoy it, too. Here is Fanny filling some cupcake liners with BLUE cupcake batter!!
Here she is at our homeschool group's annual Market Day selling the brownies she made.
Fanny petting a cat at a petting farm. She used to be terrified of animals, but has been SOOO much better since we moved to Wyoming and spend a lot of time on the farm. Having a dog has helped her so much, too. I don't want to go into details right now, because this is not the post for it, but we lost our sweet black lab, Clara, just a couple weeks ago. It has been VERY hard on all of us, especially Fanny, who had quite a personal attachment to Clara. The news was very devastating. To cheer us all up and lighten our spirits, Joseph and I decided to get another puppy for the kids in July. We talk about the new puppy we are getting almost everyday. Fanny lights up and asks me lots of questions about our puppy. It is so wonderful to see her excitement for a pet!
Playing on our trampoline. Fanny loves her siblings. It is so fun to see the three of them play together. They come up with such imaginative games. I love it!
This girl is such a tender spirit and a beautiful daughter of God. Her abilities astound me. She can memorize anything. She still enjoys learning about all things science, too.
I love my Fanny Elena girl so much! She can still melt my heart like no one else can. I'm so grateful to be blessed with each of my children and feel privileged that they have been entrusted to me in this mortal life. Fanny is such a joy. We definitely have our challenges, because no child and no parent is anywhere near perfect. But, we have some beautiful moments that remind us what a joy it is to be part of a family and part of our Heavenly Father's amazing plan.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dear Fanny! Never forget how incredible you are. We all love you more than words can ever describe!! XOXOXOXO
