Happy Birthday Dear Fanny!!!!!
We had such a wonderful time celebrating Fanny's birthday in Wyoming. I can't believe she is 4!!! For months now all she said when I asked her what she wanted for her birthday was an Ariel cake. So, I made her an Ariel cake! This was my FIRST fondant cake. I made my own marshmallow fondant and hand crafted EVERYTHING (other than Ariel, her two friends, and the number 4 candle, of course). I got a few ideas from pictures online, but this is pretty much my creation. The sand is brown sugar. It took quite a while from start to finish, but it was super fun. I've got to say, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, and so was Fanny! Thank you everyone who sent presents, wishes, and cards. She has been enjoying everything and keeps talking about her special day. I LOVE this little gal so much!!
I love Nora's expression, "Um, do I pretend Mom doesn't see me unwrapping Fanny's present and proceed with my plan??"
Here is a fun video of Fanny opening some presents on her birthday. She has been making this really funny noise lately, which you will catch in the beginning. It is hilarious! The video is kind of long, sorry.
Aunt Peerli, Uncle Brent and Cousin Brylan got Fanny gift card to Build A Bear. It was such a great experience!! I went with Fanny on a little Mommy/Daughter date to the shop. If you haven't seen or heard of Build A Bear, it is so awesome! You start with a bear shell (they have other animals, too), go to the stuffing machine, give your bear a "bath," and then pick out your own outfit for the bear which you can try on at a dressing station. Fanny was terrified of the stuffing machine, but she really enjoyed picking out an outfit. I helped with the shoes and headband :). Isn't her bear, Anna, so cute. Fanny named her. Anna is a character in a cute little ballerina book we just read from the library. When you are done, you get a birth certificate and a little cardboard house to put your bear in. The best part for me was the time I got to spend with my little Fan. Thank you Peerli, Brent and Bylan!!
Nora being silly on our drive to Wyoming.
Fanny is super attached to her Uncle Jacob. Seriously, she adores him!! And he adores her, too.
On Memorial day we went to a couple cemeteries in Star Valley to visit graves. The Valley is such a beautiful place!
Joseph's Grandpa Shumway's grave.
Joseph's Papa Wooden's grave.
Joseph's Great-Grandparents Titensor's grave.
I love this little cutie pie!!!
Back home in Utah. I just had to include this one. It was bed time and we asked Fanny to go the potty before going to sleep. She wasn't done reading her book, so she brought it into the bathroom with her :).
It was a wonderful holiday weekend in Wyoming. I'm glad we were able to spend it with family and celebrate Fanny's birthday there. I'm grateful for Fanny and for the joy she brings to our family. May this year not speed by as fast as the last four. She is just growing up so fast. I just love my girls with all my heart!

That cake is AMAZING! I can't believe it was your first time with fondant. You are so creative and talented. I'm in the process of trying to design a cake for David's b-day next week. I'm doing a treasure map cake and the brown sugar is a great idea for the sand! It is fun reading your blog because both our kids are so close in age! I knew that Nora and Tessa were close but I didn't realize that Fanny and David were only a couple weeks apart either!
