"De De De"

Fanny LOVES classical music! I'll always play recorded pieces that our on our digital piano for her and she will get cozy on the floor with a bottle and just listen. A little while ago I was tickling Fanny and started crawling my hand toward her to the tune of Edvard Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" (one of my all time favorite composers). She was getting such a kick out of it and has started asking for "de de de" every time she wants to be tickled now. I thought it would be fun for her to hear the actual piece of music, so I found the following clip on the internet with an orchestra playing the composition:

She was literally transfixed! She recognized the violins, since her daddy plays one, and was asking what all the other instruments were. Joseph and I thought it would be fun to see if she would enjoy other classical pieces. We remembered that a while back we found a really cool video of Ravel's Bolero (one of my favorite classical pieces). This is it:

Again, Fanny was completely transfixed. She recognized some different instruments and asked what the others were. Now she asks to watch both the Bolero and In the Hall of the Mountain King everyday. I love it, because the Bolero is 7 minutes long, so if I need a moment to get something done or I need to distract her for a little bit, I just have to put it on and she sits in front of the computer the whole time watching intently. Now I just need to see if I can find some other cool videos of orchestras playing classical pieces. Here is a little clip of Fanny watching the Bolero. You will see in the video how much she really enjoys watching the orchestra. Ever since Fanny was about one she has done this thing with her hands whenever she gets excited or happy about something. It is so super cute and funny. You will see her doing it a little bit a couple of times in the video. Wonder what instrument she will want to play when she is older??
