It has been a LONG time since I last posted. Sorry, life is CRAZY, but filled with all good things, all good things :). I have so much catching up to do and plan on adding several posts with some highlights from the last couple months. Hopefully I can accomplish this in the next couple weeks... Hopefully!!
This post will be dedicated to the amazing production of Shakespeare's The Tempest that the girls performed in. As most of you know, I LOVE, I mean absolutely, completely, adoringly, passionately LOVE theater and Shakespeare!! When another homeschool mom approached me earlier in the school year about helping teach and direct our children in a Shakespeare play, I was super excited, but also hesitant. I was mainly concerned about the time commitment it would be and how we would fit it into our already busy schedule. After spending a couple times with the wonderful Sellers and Hahn families and going over the script with them, I HAD to do it! I couldn't pass up this amazing opportunity for my kids to be involved in something like this that would teach them about theater and about one of the most important and fabulous classic playwrights in history, Shakespeare!
Here are some pictures from the performance. I love these kids and am so proud of how well they all did. I feel like they were perfectly cast and I really enjoyed directing them. The other moms, Traci and Jenn, were amazing. It was so great to associate with them during our rehearsals. We can't wait to do this again next year!! Nora played the part of Miranda, Prospero's daugher, and Fanny played the part of Antonia, Prospero's sister (we changed it from Antonio). Oh, and the kids all painted the backdrop and made most of the set pieces and props on their own :).
Here is the video. The play was only about 25 minuets long. This is a rough cut, haha. Sorry, I really want to edit this. Mainly I'd like to cut out the very beginning and end where you see me turn on and off the camera, blah, and I'd love to zoom in somehow. Just not up on my video editing skills. Hope you enjoy!
These kids came such a long way and I think they did an absolutely amazing job performing their parts. Love these kiddos and couldn't be more proud of my two beautiful girls.
