Fanny's Baptism

I am so proud of this beautiful girl! In our Faith a child is given the choice to be baptized at the age of eight. Fanny made that choice to be baptized. She has such a strong desire to do what is right and be more like her Savior. I'm so grateful for the good example she is to me and for the peaceful spirit she brings into our family.

I love these pre-baptism pictures:

Joseph said the water was super cold so he quickly said the prayer and performed the ordinance to get Fanny and him out of there fast. I was thinking, "Wait, that was too fast, I hardly got a chance to let the moment sink in!" Fanny choked on a little bit of water coming up. Oops! I quickly grabbed her towel and took her back in the dressing room to get her changed and prepare her to receive the Holy Ghost. She had tears in her eyes and I asked her if she was alright and if she was a little scared from choking on the water. She said she was fine, but I could tell there was something going on. I then asked her if she was feeling the Spirit. She burst out crying and said that she was. Of course I started crying, too. It was a touching moment. She then commented that she wants to never make mistakes again. She really felt the desire to make good choices after making such a sacred commitment to God during her baptism. I had the opportunity to explain to her how wonderful that desire is, but also, how wonderful it is that we have a loving Heavenly Father. He allows us to choose for ourselves and if we make mistakes it is OK, because we can be forgiven if we desire to be, and seek for the power of the Savior's atonement in our lives. I expressed that we are not perfect and not expected to be. We just need to have a desire to be better and keep trying throughout our lives. I told Fanny that I make mistakes and bad choices all the time, but God is forgiving and loving, and I am able to renew my baptismal covenants every Sunday as I partake of the Sacrament. It is kind of like being baptized again every Sabbath! And because of taking on the name of Christ at baptism, as we strive to be like Him, we are endowed with power from on high. It is a beautiful thing, and I love that Fanny now has chosen to have access to the blessings that come from making the choice to be baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Sisters!! Nora and Fanny are the best of friends and I LOVE it!

Oh, and I can't forget to add a couple pictures of the white chocolate gourmet cupcakes with vanilla buttercream FROSTING that I made for the after baptism luncheon!!!

The invitation I had made. Yes, the baptism was over a month ago. I'm a little late posting, but wanted to make sure and record this special and sacred event that took place in our family :).

I love this girl so much! She has an amazing ability to melt my heart daily. She has made the choice to knit herself with her Heavenly Father and take the Lord's name upon herself. She understands that that means that she should try to be more Christlike and do things that will serve, uplift, and edify others throughout her life.
Super proud of my Fanny girl!!
