Joseph the Superstar Genealogist

Some of you are already aware of Joseph's recent rise to "stardom." He works for ProGenealogists, the research division of Ancestry.com. Well, his team of researchers at ProGen discovered something really amazing. They often research famous people, such as political figures and celebrities, to see if they can find interesting stories in their family history that would get other people interested in tracing their own ancestors. Since the election is coming up, Ancestry.com has asked that Joseph's team research both Mitt Romney and President Obama. What they uncovered in Obama's line was awesome! Basically, they linked Obama, the first African American President in the United States, to John Punch, the first documented African American slave in the Colonies! Cool! Just so you know, Ancestry does not endorse Obama or Mitt Romney. They were merely after a neat story that would help boost their subscribers. Anyway, Joseph got to be the representative for the company when the story broke. He appeared on National T.V. THREE times, was interviewed for several major news articles, and did several interviews on radio stations, three of which were for the BBC!!! This has been really exciting for all of us. We are glad the story is "old news" now and that all the traveling is over. The girls and I are really grateful Joseph is back home! I'm super proud of all the work he has done. He did such a great job on camera. As always, so calm and collected. The following are the three T.V. spots he did and the four articles:

On CNN's The Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien. This one was AWESOME!

Another CNN clip:

On CBS with White House Correspondent Bill Plante:

The four articles:

Stay tuned for Joseph on The Jimmy Kimmel Show later this month! Jimmy had some of his own ancestry done and Joseph got to go to L.A. to present the research to Kimmel and some of his family members. The interview will be a spot on one of  Kimmel's upcoming shows. Not only that, but... Joseph's band, Kindle Creek, recently won the local competition for the National Texaco Country Showdown. More on that in another blog post that will include their brand new music video!!! It is so close to being completed! Needless to say, we have A LOT of fun things going on here! Can you tell how much I love and adore my wonderful husband??!!!

I just about fell out of my chair when I saw him on CBS this morning. I can't believe how composed he is on camera. I would have said "um" about 200 times. It seems your family has had some crazy adventures this summer. Tell him to not let the fame go to his head too much. Ha ha!
