What's that?

I don't have any pictures or videos to share, but I haven't really had a whole lot of time to blog lately and thought I would get in a quick post while both girls are asleep at the same time (miracle in and of itself).

Fanny's thing lately is asking, "What's that?" about anything and everything new that she encounters. I just love how she is developing a HUGE curiosity to learn about the things around her. She just discovered that I can read to her while I'm nursing Nora. I tried to get her to bring me books to read to her while I was nursing right after Nora was born, but she didn't go for it. The usual way we would read books was to have her in my lap, so she didn't understand that I could still read to her even though she wasn't sitting right on me. Now, Fanny brings books onto the bed or couch or wherever I'm feeding Nora so I can read to her while she turns the pages. I love it because I don't feel like I have to worry so much about her feeling neglected.

Fanny LOVES books. I find her in the office at least once a day reading book after book to herself from memory. Often times, after she reads her books, she then goes and lines them up. I can't even tell you how many things I find lined up around our house in just one day. I don't think Fanny will ever grow out of wanting to keep things in order. Remind you of anyone??

We are still working on potty training Fanny. She definitely recognizes when she has to go and can hold it, but refuses to go in a potty. Like I said in a previous post, she will take off a diaper when it is wet or will come and ask for a diaper change when she has pooped. If she does take off a diaper, she will not go pee or poo until she has another diaper on. We thought about getting rid of her diapers and giving her the options of either going in her underwear or on the potty in hopes that she won't like how it feels to be wet in her undies and will want to go on the potty. But, we worry that she will just hold it in and won't go at all. I guess we just need to try it to find out what will happen...

We are also working on getting Fanny out of the habit of coming into our room between 1:00a.m. and 4:00a.m. and sleeping in our be with us. Joseph and I both HATE it, but put up with it because we are too tired and don't want Fanny to wake up Nora if we try to put her back in her own bed. Any suggestions??

A couple other things we are working on with Fanny is getting her to ask for things instead of winning or crying, and we are trying to teach her not to throw toys. It is hard because she loves gathering things up and throwing them to see how they scatter and sound when they drop on the floor. Most of the time I don't really mind this and like how she is discovering something new, but when those toys hit Nora and give her a red mark on her forehead that causes her to cry bloody murder, I DO mind it. Thus...Fanny has had to sit in time out more than she would care to lately. Oh, she is such a great girl, though, and seriously makes me laugh out loud every day. I love her more than I can say. I love both my girls more than I can say and enjoy every moment of being their mother, challenges and all.
